Hey everyone! I hope you’re all doing well. I thought it would be fun to share what I am reading currently. The thing you should know about me is that I am usually bouncing back and forth from two or three different books / comics. So here is a list of what I am currently reading.
‘Every Last Drop’ is book four (4) in the Joe Pitt series. If you aren’t familiar with this series, go check out the first book in this series, ‘Already Dead’, which is excellent. Charlie Huston does an excellent job creating this alternate New York world while maintaining the locations, but injecting factions of vampires with one of them, Joe Pitt, as sort of fixer with no real allegiance, which tends to get him into trouble.
I don’t want to give too much away, but book four continues it’s quality storytelling, character building with intriguing action scenes and interesting lore. If you like Noir, Crime stories with a bit of Horror, this series is must.
Admittedly, I have only read four (4) issues of this comic, but I simply love Steve Niles’ work. Here is the description from the ComiXology page.
“The creative team behind Monster & Madman would like to introduce you to the ongoing adventures of retired monster-hunter Frederick Allan and his family… which include a thrill-killer, a witch, and a warlock. Because sometimes crazy is the glue that binds a family together.”
As I am already a fan of Steve Niles’ work and the art style of the book by Damien Worm is very interesting and fits the atmosphere and theme of the book perfectly. We are introduced to the Allan family, who are a very interesting group of people with even more interesting abilities.
Where I am at in the story is that Frederick used to hunt monsters and even though he is retired, the monsters aren’t done with him. I don’t want to give too much away, but the series is filled, thus far anyway, with great characters, the occult, great action and excellent story telling. Plus, it’s in production to be a series on Netflix! If you’re in the mood for something dark and fun, add this series to your list. You won’t regret it.
So what are you reading right now that you really like? I’d love to know, so send me a message at email@example.com or post it here or on my Facebook page. Until the next post, keep those pages turning.
