Hello everyone! 👋 I hope this post finds you well. I wanted to share some work in progress that the developer I am working with in Denmark has made on their game, Theater of Death. I reworked the backstory and we are now at version three (3) at this point and the backstory may change a bit more as the game takes shape, but for now, I have a video trailer of music, vocals and text that you can watch for the backstory. The vocals were recorded by my great friend, Ryan Voss. The developer was shocked when I shared this recording with them as they didn’t know that I was working on this audio recording to go along with my rewrite. There is a fair amount of music in the video and the vocals stop at the 6:32 mark, so if you just want to hear the vocals, you can stop there.
There are several reasons that I partnered with Ryan to do a vocal recording of the backstory and those are:
- Ryan is awesome to work with and we get a long really well. He takes direction really well and adapts quickly based on my feedback.
- I knew that it would be great mutual experience for the both of us to partner on a recording of my writing as well as get some exposure in this medium of video games.
- It’s a great way to promote a friends work.
- Part of my writing process is to read my writing out loud so I can hear if it sounds odd when spoken.
Regarding item four (4), there are lots of times that when I read my writing out loud I hear how it doesn’t flow as naturally as I would like it to, so it typically causes me to rewrite things. Having someone else do it for me helps me more easily identify that sort of thing.
I am super pleased with the work Ryan has done as well as the developer. Now this is a work in progress as I mentioned, so the music may change, the story may get a rewrite to a degree, but it’s always fun to see your work coming to life. I hope you enjoyed checking it out. Take care. 😀
